SAN JOSE, Calif., March 30, 2021 - Connected vehicle platform company Sibros today announced it has joined the Open Invention Network (OIN), the largest patent non-aggression community in history, as a community member.

Sibros has pioneered one of the world’s first deep connected vehicle platforms specializing in full vehicle Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, data logging and diagnostics in a single system. The solution allows OEMs to build and monetize new connected vehicle services by sending remote software updates and diagnostic commands to any ECU and collecting data back from any ECU.  Sibros’ platform does this at scale while handling all data, security, privacy and safety concerns required to operate in any country.

“As an active member of Uptane, the open source cybersecurity framework for OTA processes and AGL/Linux Foundation - our work is inherently supportive of open source software,” said Hemant Sikaria, CEO of Sibros. “We’re thrilled to join the OIN community to further demonstrate our support of open source as we continue to deliver the industry’s most advanced connectivity and OTA solution for our customers”, added Sikaria.

“The automotive industry has seen great benefit from the use of open source technologies to build more robust operating systems, richer in-vehicle experiences, and better connectivity,” said Keith Bergelt, CEO of Open Invention Network. “We are pleased that an award winning connected vehicle software company like Sibros is committed to patent non-aggression in core Linux and adjacent open source technologies.”

OIN’s community practices patent non-aggression in core Linux and adjacent OSS technologies by cross-licensing Linux System patents to one another on a royalty-free basis. Patents owned by OIN are similarly licensed royalty-free to any organization that agrees not to assert its patents against the Linux System.
